{"id":19777,"date":"2021-08-13T05:04:22","date_gmt":"2021-08-13T05:04:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tvplussoapies.com\/?p=19777"},"modified":"2021-08-28T14:45:04","modified_gmt":"2021-08-28T14:45:04","slug":"how-to-apply-for-new-sassa-r350-grant-in-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tvplussoapies.com\/how-to-apply-for-new-sassa-r350-grant-in-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Apply For New SASSA R350 Grant in 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<header id=\"main-content-header\" class=\"clearfix\">\n<h2 id=\"page-title\">How To Apply For New SASSA R350 Grant<\/h2>\n<header id=\"main-content-header\" class=\"clearfix\">Applications for the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant are now open.\u00a0The grant has been reinstated, starting on 6 August 2021 until March 2022.<\/p>\n<p>SASSA will only be accepting new applications, meaning all previous beneficiaries of the R350 grant will have to reapply.<\/p>\n<h3>How To Apply For Sassa R350 Grant<\/h3>\n<p>Before applying, applicants need to ensure that they fit the\u00a0<strong>eligibility criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>South African citizens\/permanent residents\/refugees\/asylum seekers\/holders of special permits<\/li>\n<li>Unemployed<\/li>\n<li>Have no alternative source of income or financial support from any other source<\/li>\n<li>Between the ages of 18 and 60<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The new cycle of the grant is also open to Caregivers who are not receiving any grant on their own behalf.<\/p>\n<h4>Applications must be sent on one of the following platforms:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>SASSA website<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/srd.sassa.gov.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/srd.sassa.gov.za<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Email<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:srd@sassa.gov.za\">srd@sassa.gov.za<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>WhatsApp<\/strong>:\u00a0082 046 8553 (send a Whatsapp message to this number. SASSA will only process one application received from each applicant,&#8221; said SASSA.<\/p>\n<h4>Applicants will need to supply the following\u00a0details and documents:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Identity Number or Department of Home Affairs Refugee permit number<\/li>\n<li>Name and Surname as captured in the Identity Document<\/li>\n<li>Gender and Disability<\/li>\n<li>Contact details &#8211; Cell phone number<\/li>\n<li>Residential Address<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Successful applicants will be contacted by SASSA once applications have been processed. For information please visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.za\/coronavirus\/socialgrants\">https:\/\/www.gov.za\/coronavirus\/socialgrants<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<div>\n<h3><strong>About applying for social relief of distress<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Social relief of distress is the temporary provision of assistance intended for persons in such a dire material need that they are unable to meet their families\u2019 most basic needs.<\/p>\n<p>This could be due to any of the following factors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>you need help while you wait for your children\u2019s grants to be processed<\/li>\n<li>a crisis or disaster has occurred (e.g. your house has burnt down)<\/li>\n<li>you do not qualify for a grant, and you are in a desperate situation<\/li>\n<li>you are unable to work for a period of fewer than six months because you are medically unfit<\/li>\n<li>you are unable to get maintenance from the other parent of your child or children<\/li>\n<li>the breadwinner in the family has died<\/li>\n<li>the breadwinner has been sent to prison for a short time (less than six months)<\/li>\n<li>you have been affected by a disaster, but the area or community in which you live has not been declared a disaster area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>What do you get?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Social Relief of Distress may be in the form of a food parcel or a voucher to buy food. Some provinces give this assistance in the form of cash. Social Relief of Distress is given for a short time only \u2013 usually for up to three months, which may be extended for another three months.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><strong>What you should do<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Apply for social relief of distress at your nearest South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) office.<\/li>\n<li>Submit your application with the following documents:\n<ul>\n<li>your 13-digit bar-coded identity document and your children\u2019s birth certificates.<\/li>\n<li>if your identity document and\/or a birth certificate are not available:\n<ul>\n<li>an affidavit commissioned by a Justice of the Peace. The affidavit must contain a clause that indicates that provision of incorrect or inaccurate information will result in prosecution in terms of Section 21 of the Social Assistance Act, 2004.<\/li>\n<li>a sworn statement by a reputable person who knows the applicant and the child. This may be from a counselor, traditional leader, social worker, or minister of religion.<\/li>\n<li>proof that an application for a birth certificate or identity document has been lodged with the Department of Home Affairs.<\/li>\n<li>where applicable, a temporary identity document issued by the Department of Home Affairs.<\/li>\n<li>a baptismal certificate.<\/li>\n<li>a road to health clinic card.<\/li>\n<li>a school report.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>please note: No application can be processed without the sworn statement\/affidavit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>If you do not have an identity document and birth certificates, an affidavit from your local police station, chief, counselor or religious leader may be enough proof.<\/li>\n<li>Show proof that you:\n<ul>\n<li>have applied for a grant<\/li>\n<li>have had an emergency (e.g. provide a police report that your house burnt down)<\/li>\n<li>have tried to get maintenance<\/li>\n<li>have no other support<\/li>\n<li>are married, divorced, or single<\/li>\n<li>have no income<\/li>\n<li>have a short-term medical disability.<br \/>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3><strong>How long does it take<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Your application will be processed immediately.<\/li>\n<li>Once your application is submitted, it will be assessed for credibility and your genuine need for the service.<\/li>\n<li>Even if you do not have all the documents, you will get your first month\u2019s food parcel, voucher or cash.<\/li>\n<li>Remember to take all the documents to the officer before the second month\u2019s payment is due.
