Here Is Why Viewers Won’t Be Seeing Connie Ferguson on ‘The Queen’ For a while

The Queen actress Connie Ferguson has taken some time off from the telenovela while her late husband and actor Shona Ferguson battled COVID-19 for almost a month in hospital.

Actress and Media personality Connie Ferguson who plays the role of Harriet Khoza on The Queen has not been appearing on the show due to the passing of her husband Shona Ferguson.

This is one of the Reasons why The Queen August 2021 teasers are incomplete.

Shona Ferguson’s Death

Shona Ferguson, 47, died at the MilPark Hospital in Johannesburg due to Covid-19 related complications.

Ferguson penned the tribute note on her Instagram on July 31, which marked 20 years since the couple met. Connie revealed that when Shona died they had already begun preparing for their 20th wedding anniversary in November.

She described their love as “a once-in-a-lifetime love”, saying they had envisaged taking care of each other even in their old age. She described her late husband as a soul-mate.  She further reminisced about the good old days where the couple joked around and laughed endlessly.

Shona contracted COVID-19 towards the end of June and battled with the virus for 33-days before he passed away on 30 July.

Pilane took guests through a summary of Ferguson’s journey from the day he fell ill right up to his passing.

‘The Queen’: What’s Coming UP

If you’ve been following The Queen episodes, you would have realized that Connie Ferguson’s character Harriet Khoza has fallen in love with Rapulana Seiphemo’s character, Hector Sebata.

• Harriet has run-off to her mother’s in North West province on the show to deal with her feelings for Hector who is married to Vuyiswa Maake, played by Zandile Msutwana.
• Hector has been himself lately because he misses Harriet and is dying to see her.
• Hector even went to an extent of delivering flowers to Harriet’s house with a cryptic message because she hasn’t been taking his phone calls.
• Harriet finally replied to Hector’s voicemails and left him a voice message which states that she feels the same way.

Viewers only heard her voice and didn’t see her because she’s dealing with Shona’s death.

What’s Coming

It is obvious that the writers of The Queen have to change the storyline until Connie is feeling strong enough to return to the show. She and Hector will have an affair when she returns to the show because they are soulmates and have more in common as opposed to Vuyiswa.
