• His mother, Elizabeth, joined them when he was 10. Elizabeth Harriet Montgomery Jackson, the mother of actor Samuel L. Jackson, died Oct. 23 2012 in Rome, Ga., after a long struggle with Alzheimers.

• He attended his tertiary education at Morehouse College and majored in marine biology before switching to studying acting.
• Samuel L. Jackson graduated from Morehouse College in 1972 and then started his acting career on stage.
• After attending college, Jackson joined the Black Image Theatre Company with his future wife (they were not married by that time), LaTanya Richardson.

• He met LaTanya Richardson at Morehouse’s sister school, Spelman College.
